Glimpse of Da Vinci corpse
【以下、原文転載】
The pallid corpse of Jacques Sauniere lay on the floor.
As Langdon stood over the body and squinted into the harsh light, he reminded himself to his amazement that Sauniere had spent his last minutes of life arranging his own body in this strange fashion.
He had stripped off every shred of clothing ... His arms and legs were sprawled outward in a wide spreadeagle ... Sauniere had drawn a simple symbol on his flesh - five straight lines that intersected to form a five-pointed star. The pentacle.
- The Da Vinci Code
THIS is the moment the world’s best-selling novel bursts into life on the cinema screen – and the race to crack the Da Vinci Code begins.
Our world exclusive pictures show the new film’s stars, Tom Hanks and Audrey Tautou, as they rush to escape pursuing cops in Paris’s Louvre.
The naked body of the art gallery’s curator Jacques Sauniere lies on the floor, covered in bizarre secret codes which the pair must battle to solve in a gripping quest around France and Britain.
He had formed his body into the shape shown by the famous Leonardo da Vinci drawing Vitruvian Man.
Hanks plays Robert Langdon, an expert in mystical symbols, who sets out to solve the clues left on the body of Sauniere, played by French actor Jean-Pierre Marielle.
He is helped by the gallery chief’s granddaughter, code-breaker Sophie Neveu, played by Audrey.
In the wake of the discovery in the Louvre, they have to plot their escape from dogged French detective Bezu Fache, played by Leon star Jean Reno.
Another exclusive picture shows our two heroes with Lord Of The Rings star Sir Ian McKellen as aristocratic expert Sir Leigh Teabing, who helps Langdon and Neveu in their quest.
In London’s Westminster Abbey the two code breakers are pictured looking exhausted as they close in on the truth behind another cryptic clue.
Their quest takes them to desperately search for clues in a Da Vinci painting while his masterpiece, the Mona Lisa, gazes down from the gallery’s walls.
The £53million film, which is out on May 19, is based on Dan Brown’s blockbuster novel which has sold more than 20million copies worldwide.
The book controversially discusses the Holy Grail, Leonardo Da Vinci and allegations that Jesus became a father.
The film has been shot in France as well as Lincoln Cathedral, Holborn in central London and Rosslyn Chapel in Midlothian — which the novel suggests was built to house the Holy Grail.
Trustees at the 15th century chapel are thought to have struck a £100,000 deal for the film scenes.
