オプス・デイの広報担当によると、子供達を明白な性や暴力から守るのと同様に、より巧妙で潜在的な暴力から彼らを守るのは意味があることなんだそうです。
最低限の教育を大人なら、真実と作り事を見分けられるが、歴史が操られたら、子供達に適切な判断を期待することはできないでしょうとも言ってるそうです。
カトリック新聞社によると、フィクションだからという否定だけでは、足らないんだそうです。
話は馬鹿げていて時々は幾分ユーモラスではあるが、組織に対して悪いイメージを生むし、このような悪いイメージは、批判精神が欠けた人々の中に憎しみの感情を生み出したりすることはよく知られている。
しかしながら、オプス・デイは映画に対して宣戦布告はしないだろうって。マーケティングを手助けするだけだからって。～
いやあ～、オプス・デイがあれこれ言えば、それだけマスコミや関係者が喜ぶだけだし、静観しているのが一番得策でしょう！ 映画は映画でしかないし、しょせんフィクションだもん。もっとも、ダ・ヴィンチ・コードを読んでそのままに信じてしまう人というのも、正直怖いけど…。皮肉屋でみんなから嫌われるテンションを下げる奴になる必要はないけど、自分で調べて判断するぐらいの理性はもたないとね。でも、映画は映画として、ダ・ヴィンチ・コードとっても楽しみ♪なんだけどね。
Opus Dei wants adult rating for Da Vinci Code

Controversial Catholic group Opus Dei has called for the forthcoming film version of The Da Vinci Code to be given an adult rating to prevent children being influenced by its "insidious" lies about the Catholic Church.
"Just as we protect children from explicit sex and violence, it would seem to make sense to protect them from violence that is more subtle and thus more insidious," spokesman Marc Carroggio said.
"Any adult with a minimum of education can distinguish reality from fiction. But when history is manipulated, you cannot expect a child to make proper judgments," he added.
"Merely adding a disclaimer that says 'fiction' is not enough," Carroggio told the Catholic news agency Zenit.
"Although the story is absurd and at times somewhat humorous, it produces a hateful image of the institution and it is well known that hateful images like this produce feelings of hatred in those who lack a critical sense."
But he said Opus Dei would make no "declaration of war" against the film as it would only help its marketing.
