THE tourism boost to Roslin caused by the Da Vinci Code's success has meant bus services have needed to be increased in the village.
Tourists have been flocking to Roslin Village to visit Rosslyn Chapel, the inspiration behind the chapel in Dan Brown's bestseller.
The chapel was also used as the setting for the forthcoming movie based on the book, starring Tom Hanks and Audrey Tautou.
To cope with the increased demand, Lothian Buses are extending the 15 and 15A services to cover Midlothian for the first time.
The 15 will run via Auchendinny and Easter Bush every hour and the 15A via Roslin every hour.
During the summer season, the 15A service, from St Andrew Square to Penicuik via Fairmilehead, Damhead, Bilston, Roslin and Milton Bridge, will also run hourly on Sundays.
Councillor Jim Muirhead, Midlothian Council's transport spokesman, believes the services will give a further boost to Roslin's tourism sector. He said: "Rosslyn Chapel has seen a phenomenal growth in visitor numbers since the publication of Dan Brown's book 'The Da Vinci Code'.
"This is likely to grow even more once the film of the book is released, which is expected to happen this spring."
